But the ecosystem most ripe for disruption doesn’t involve professional investors at all — it’s the friends and family round — and it’s the true lifeblood of startups. According to the Angel Capital Education Foundation, startups annually raise $60 billion through friends and family.

JOBS Act: SEC Misses Rulemaking Deadline, But “the Wheels Are in Motion”

The Securities and Exchange Commission will not meet the first rulemaking deadline mandated under the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act according to testimony Chairman Mary Schapiro delivered to Congress. Schapiro said it was “not feasible” to meet the JOBS Act’s 90-day deadline for the implementation to permit general solicitation in private placements to accredited investors.
